In 2022 we continue are much loved podcast series, The Herbal Spot. We are excited to share the plant traditions of our neighbours in the biodiverse Caribbean archipelago.

We take our podcast across the Caribbean and first feature our BERP member, Martha Hannah-Smith, who shares some of the Biocultural traditions found in the Bahamas and how she was inspired to write her plant heritage book - Bush Medicine in Bahamian Folk Tradition.

Dr. Diane Ignacio, of the University of the West Indies, Department of Pharmacy, St. Augustine Campus, shares the philosophy underpinning her research on plant-based interventions for prostate cancer. We also get a brief look at some common medicinal plants in Trinidad and Tobago.

Join our vibrant conversation with Dr. Ina Vandebroek as she shares the rich Biocultural traditions found in Jamaica and lists the top five of the plants in the healing arsenal. Listen to hear about the plant she refers to as the 'Don' in the Jamaican culture. Dr. Vandebroek is an Ethnobotanist and Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
